What happens during prenatal care appointments?

During your first prenatal care appointment at Mesbah OB/GYN, your specialist assesses your weight, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs. They review your medical history by asking about past diagnoses, family history of disease, symptoms, and your medication regimen.

Your provider also completes a physical examination, including a breast exam if needed and a pelvic exam. If you need a Pap test, they take a sample of cells from your cervix and submit them to a lab for analysis.

Your specialist may listen to your baby’s heartbeat or complete a vaginal or pelvic ultrasound to view your unborn baby and make sure everything looks healthy. The Mesbah OB/GYN team often recommends you complete blood tests to screen for possible medical problems, hormone imbalances, or vitamin deficiencies.

If needed, they offer treatments and counsel you about ways to maintain healthy habits that help you and your unborn baby thrive during and after pregnancy.
